How to get the green tick on WhatsApp today
The WhatsApp green tick has been replaced by a blue verified badge. On the WhatsApp Business app, you get it through Meta Verified, a monthly subscription that Meta lists from USD 14.99, once Meta confirms your business. Numbers on the API can request Official Business Account status. Neither route is automatic, and paying does not guarantee the badge.
| Route | For | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Meta Verified for Business | WhatsApp Business app accounts | Monthly subscription, price by plan and country |
| Official Business Account | Numbers on the WhatsApp Business Platform (API) | No separate fee listed; approval is selective |
What happened to the WhatsApp green tick
WhatsApp's help center now calls it the verified badge, 'also known as a blue tick or blue checkmark', the same Meta Verified badge used on Facebook and Instagram. If your business already had a verified badge, WhatsApp says you keep your verified status and don't need to do anything.
The badge can appear on business profiles, in chats, in the calls tab, on context cards and on incoming calls from verified businesses. Businesses without one are labeled simply as a business account. According to WhatsApp, a badge means Meta has verified the account based on its activity across Meta's apps, or on information and documents the business provided. Some verified accounts belong to a notable person, brand or entity; the rest come from paid subscriptions.
Meta Verified for WhatsApp: plans and price
Meta Verified for Business is a monthly subscription covering Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. When we checked Meta's pricing page on September 29, 2026, it listed four plans in US dollars, each priced per Facebook Page, Instagram account or WhatsApp phone number:
| Plan | Per month | WhatsApp benefits |
|---|---|---|
| Business Standard | USD 14.99 | Badge, impersonation protection, in-app support, 1 verified channel, business web page, up to 4 linked devices |
| Business Plus | USD 49.99 | Adds prioritized support, 3 verified channels, up to 6 linked devices |
| Business Premium | USD 149.99 | 5 verified channels, 10 protected business accounts, up to 8 linked devices |
| Business Max | USD 499.99 | 10 verified channels, 50 protected business accounts, up to 10 linked devices |
Meta says subscriptions, benefits and availability differ by region, app and account, that offers can lower the price, and that it decides which plans a business can buy based on its activity. Treat the table as a reference and check the price shown in your app. Meta is also testing Meta One, a bundle whose business plans (Essential, Advanced, Expert and Max) include the verification features previously sold as Meta Verified, plus extras such as business broadcast credits. It isn't available everywhere yet.
Who is eligible for the verified badge
To subscribe on WhatsApp, Meta requires that you:
- Are at least 18 and have a phone number in a country where Meta Verified for business is offered
- Follow the Meta Verified for Business terms and the WhatsApp Business Terms of Service
- Have used the WhatsApp Business app for a minimum number of days (Meta doesn't publish the number) and sent a message recently
- Have a profile name and a profile picture
- Don't already have an active Meta Verified subscription through Meta Business Suite
Government and political organizations are excluded. To check availability, open Settings or the Tools tab in WhatsApp Business and look for Meta Verified; if it isn't there, it isn't available to you yet. The business name you verify must match your documents and your WhatsApp profile name. If they differ, Meta can't verify you, so fix the mismatch before you pay.
How to get the blue tick in the WhatsApp Business app
- Prepare your profile. Update the name, photo and details, and link any Facebook or Instagram accounts now. After you subscribe, name, category, address, email and website are locked, and linking accounts later can cancel the subscription.
- Open Meta Verified. Go to the Tools tab, tap Meta Verified, then Continue.
- Pick a plan and accounts. Tap the plan Meta recommends for your business and choose which accounts to verify. You can bundle WhatsApp with linked Facebook and Instagram accounts.
- Pay. Add a payment method and make the first payment. Meta refunds it if it can't verify your business.
- Verify. Select your business (or None of these matches my business), choose a verification method and submit your information.
Meta says review can take up to three business days, longer at busy times. One of three things happens: Meta verifies you automatically from your activity across its apps; it asks for documents, which is optional and doesn't guarantee approval; or you keep the subscription without a verification option. In each case you keep the plan's other benefits. After approval, your profile can stay locked for up to 20 days. Then you can change the picture once every three days and the business name once every 60 days, subject to review.
Verification for API numbers: Official Business Account
If your number runs on the WhatsApp Business Platform, the documented route to the badge is Official Business Account (OBA) status. OBA numbers show a blue checkmark next to their name. Meta's requirements:
- You comply with the WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy
- The number has been registered on the platform for at least 30 days
- The business portfolio that owns it has passed business verification
- Two-step verification is enabled on the number (Meta began retiring this PIN for eligible API numbers in September 2026, so check what WhatsApp Manager shows)
- The number's display name is approved
To apply, open WhatsApp Manager, select the number, go to its profile and submit a request under Official business account; it can also be requested through the API. Meeting the requirements doesn't guarantee approval, and if Meta declines you must wait 30 days before asking again. Without OBA status, your number won't show up when people search for it in WhatsApp unless they have saved it.
Business verification is not the badge
'Verify my WhatsApp Business account' can mean three different things. Meta's own help center warns that verifying your business in Meta Business Suite is different from Meta Verified and won't give you a verified badge.
| What it proves | What you get | |
|---|---|---|
| Business verification | Your legal business exists and you represent it | Higher API messaging limits, up to 20 numbers, OBA eligibility. No badge. |
| Meta Verified | Meta confirmed your business for a paid plan | Badge, impersonation protection, support, extra devices |
| Official Business Account | A verified, established brand on the API | Badge on your API number |
Business verification happens in the Security Center of Meta Business Suite. You enter your legal business name, address, phone number and website (it must load over HTTPS), upload documents such as a business license or articles of incorporation if Meta can't match your records, and confirm by email, phone, text, WhatsApp message or domain verification. Meta says decisions can take up to 14 business days, and editing your business details later means verifying again.
What the badge does, and what it doesn't
The badge tells customers they are talking to the real business, and Meta Verified adds impersonation protection, which matters if scammers copy your name. It is most useful for brands people might confuse with fakes, such as banks, delivery companies and well-known retailers.
Meta doesn't list the badge as a factor in API messaging limits, quality ratings, template review or message prices. It won't protect you from bans either: a banned account loses its Meta Verified subscription, and protected accounts can still be banned for breaking the terms. It isn't permanent: Meta keeps reviewing verified accounts and can remove a badge if extra checks, such as an ID document and a selfie, aren't completed.
You can earn trust without a badge. Use the display name customers already know, complete your profile, message only people who opted in, and send from the number already saved in their phones. Recoverly connects that existing number to Meta's official API through coexistence, so automated order updates and reminders arrive from the name and profile customers recognize.
